All bands participating in the National Battle for America Event will be considered for participation in The Indie Music Fest upon request by the band to Black Mountain Productions, Inc.
Why the name; "The Battle for America - 2010"?

This competition is a National Battle of the Bands Event. Each state carries it’s own regional events, such as: “The Battle for Colorado – Denver Regional’s”. Winners of each regional competition receive 1st-3rd prize awards for their local competition. All band scores are registered at the national level for the overall Top 3 National Winners. The three highest scores win National awards automatically at the end of the 2010 Competition. Yes, you can win twice & there is NO “Finals” competition for the overall National Winners.
The Battle for America is an ORIGINAL MUSIC competition.
MAJOR DIFFERENCES of this Competition vs. Others & Overall Rules of the event:
1) You are NOT required to sell tickets to secure your playing slot. No “Pay for Play”!
2) There is NO WINNER by APPLAUSE by the most fans present. By all means, bring your fans, but this is a talent competition, not a rowdy loud cheering fan competition.
3) REAL Judges will be presiding over the competition. Judges are usually supplied by our sponsors. All judges operate under the exact same scoring rules provided to them for each band. Judges score you, hand it in to event officials, then move to the next band. This means you only need to be good at what you do, when you do it. Playing last is not a BIG advantage.
4) All bands know the exact criteria the judges use to score the competition before they arrive at the competition.

5) Judges watch band interaction with the crowd & crowd response, but the loudest applause by the most fans present is not what wins this competition.
6) In several competitions, the TOP 3 Winning places got LIVE INTERVIEWS on a Houston Radio Station and got to play live on the air or have CD Tracks played during the Live Interview. This is a function of your local coordinator as they secure local sponsors.
7) No Quarter finals & Semi final rounds. Generally this is a one or two day event. All awards & prizes are announced and awarded the same or last day, at the end of the competition.
Who may compete? Is there a registration fee?
Solo/Duo Acts to Full Bands may enter. All genres are highly encouraged! No age limitations for bands (Venue may impose age limit to enter facility). Yes, the band registration fee is: $40.00. This is all that's required to enter other than the rules stated above.
This competition is intended for singer songwriters to full bands. Just because you may wish to perform as a solo acoustic act, you are in no way at a disadvantage to a band. All JUDGES function under the same criteria and you are judged on the quality of your performance. In the 2007 Houston Regional event the winner was a 16 year old female singer songwriter by the name of Breanna Fye (Now at the University of Texas). Breanna & her piano beat out all the bands in the competition. What a vocalist she was! And she wasn’t from Texas… Go figure! J Most recently, in the Sarasota, FL - 2010 event, Solo Acoustic act Billy Buchannan won hands down against all the complete bands with his powerful voice and songwriting skills.

National/Regional Coordinators & Event Promoters Needed
We are always seeking qualified Event Promoters to run regional Battle for America events in their city. Many of our national coordinators have rights to their entire state. Coordinators are compensated for their efforts. Many coordinators do this full time, others do it part time for additional income. Contact us for more info. There is still time to complete 2010 events or come on board for 2011.
