Re:  The Indie Music Fest

About Us
:

Sundance Safety was formed in 1997, and provides professional safety services to the Film, Television and Live entertainment, and motorsport industries.  Our services include First aid, First Response Fire Suppression and Rescue services, Safety consultation and planning and operations.  Many of our providers work full time jobs within the public safety sector as professional EMT's and Paramedics for 911 Emergency Services.  We have provided service to major motion pictures, Television series and events, and many large and small live events, concerts and festivals.

We believe in customer service as the only priority, and our staff's willingness to work with our clients guests to solve problems, get assistance or care is the reason we stand apart from the pack.  While most guests at an event never need our services, our clients know they have dedicated staff available to help solve even the most perplexing problems and odd needs, within human capacity.

We Support a clean environment in as many ways as we can.  We believe in and practice the reuse, re-purpose, and recycle philosophy as much as possible, right down to our re-purposed old ambulance used now for first aid at events.  We minimize the use of chemicals in fire fighting,  try to use only certified and approved environmentally safe products when possible and teach using minimum water in firefighting to lessen damaging runoff.

Our advise to festival Guest for a fun and exciting day WITHOUT a trip to the First Aid Tent:

Be prepared. Have sufficient money for drinks and food.  Have layered clothing for both the warm day and the cooler night. Have your group together, and stay together.  Have phone numbers of each person in your group, and especially for younger guests, phone numbers for parents or other family adults we can call in an emergency.

Use Sunscreen.  The Vegas sun is brutal to your skin, and zaps your moisture and energy.

Rest often  Relax in the shade between your favorite bands. Pace yourself.  It's a long day and there's plenty of time to do everything.

Stay Hydrated.  WATER IS BEST. We keep our firefighters hydrated with WATER at a rate three times that of Sports Drinks.  The salts in sports drinks can cause more problems if not balanced with water.  Drink plenty of water thorough the day.  Remember if you feel thirsty, you are already mildly dehydrated.  AVOID large amounts of CAFFINE, ENERGY DRINKS, Sodas, teas, and ADULT BEVERAGES.  Caffeine, Alcohol, and many ingredients in energy drinks can actually remove more water from the body than they replace.  They can accelerate dehydration. Enjoy these beverages in moderation.

Eat frequently and lightly.  Large intakes of food, especially when it's hot outside can lead to grogginess, nausea, and sometimes vomiting.  Eat several smaller portions over the day and keep your energy up while enjoying the different offerings, and not feel bloated or “Heavy” all day.

Avoid the “Crowd Syndrome”.  Many people don't realize that crowds of people such as the crowd scene at a show generate large amounts of heat. This is especially true when there are large groups dancing or moshing.  Also the close proximity to other people can create feelings of being closed in, and actually cause anxiety or panic attacks, fainting, hyperventilation and other non so fun feelings.  If you fell uncomfortable in the crowd, move to the outside area for a while, rest, sip water and allow yourself time to reset before getting in the scene again.

About the “Partying”.  Officially we promote the drug free scene, and find that shows are better without personal chemical enhancement.  However if you must, KNOW YOUR LIMITS, and KNOW the LAW.  It's never a good time to see our guests get themselves into ugly legal situations over a “Good Time”.  Enough Said.

Lastly if you feel bad, need to rest, or need anything, remember we are here to help.  Don't be afraid to stop in, we are here for you, the festival guest and patron. For more information please call: (702) 499-2411 or info@sundancesafety.com .
