IMF Volunteer Program

Volunteering for the Indie Music Fest, gives you the chance to help present a new innovative annual event, specifically designed for the unsigned indie artist, writer and musician on a national basis, as well as assist with the local community in many ways.

The Basics

Volunteers must live in the Las Vegas or surrounding area
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian
Volunteers receive no monetary compensation for their services

Volunteer Team Positions Available

1. Patron Services (Information, Program Distribution, Greeters, Backup, Box Office, Vendor services, stage crew, etc.) The Box Office Team is key to making the event experience positive, right from the start. Stationed at the entrance, this team will help direct patrons to the correct areas, answer general questions and generally help patrons along. You are representing the event and must be friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.  The Backup Team is the "go to" crew. Sometimes you might just be sitting around for a short time awaiting an assignment and sometimes you will be constantly on the go assisting wherever need during your shift. Bring a positive attitude and willingness to just about anything. Your on a fun team---anything can happen. Program Distribution team has a main role and that is to make sure that all attendees receive a free program and interacting with the patrons. Greeters are posted in many areas of the event. Your role is to meet and greet and assist the attendees. You may be one of the first volunteers the patron meets and you must be friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Vendor Services is a key role in assisting any of the events vendors with any issues that may areas, from concerns, complaints and basic information. We want each vendor to have an great experience. You will need to be positive and friendly as possible. Stage Crew is a very exciting and fun team to be part of. You will assist the performing bands with gear, possibly work with the audio and equipment techs and coordinate with your team supervisor, the stage slot times for all of the artists and those are just a few of your duties throughout your shift.

2. Environmental Initiatives (Recycling, Green Team, Trash and Waste Management) The Environmental Initiatives Team is the largest in the volunteer program. This team plays a critical role in helping the event reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfill, by directing patrons to place their trash in the proper areas. The team volunteers will help promote the green message by answering general questions on the events initiatives and will also, keep an eye on the event grounds area, to help identify the areas that need attention, such as overflowing trash bins and trash areas. Also, this team assists the events supervisors through clean-up to ensure we leave the event location the way we found it.

Volunteer Application Process

We carefully review your application. Qualified volunteers who are available to work all days of the event and who are flexible with shift time assignments, have the best chance of being selected. We look for applicants who enjoy volunteering in their community throughout the year.

Volunteer Shifts

A typical shift is 4 hours each day of the event. All volunteers must check-in an hour before their shift, to get their wristband, t-shirt, sign their waiver, meet with their team and team supervisor. Be prepared to be on your feet for an extended period in any sort of weather. If your goal is to volunteer for morning shifts only, the event volunteer program is not for you. (Each team usually has a morning, afternoon and evening shifts)

Volunteer Benefits

The biggest perk is free entry into the event each day for your shift. After your volunteer shift, you get to relax and enjoy the music, eat some good food and visit with the other exciting activities. You will also, receive a limited edition volunteer t-shirt to wear, while you're on your shift and keep as a nice memory of your contribution to the event.

We will provide light snacks and free water (please think green and bring a refillable bottle or use one bottled water and refill it) We provide one food coupon for the event weekend, valued at $7.00 to be used at the food area.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Once you have been selected and you commit to a team and shifts, we are counting on you, as we do not over staff the teams. But, we also understand that sometimes unexpected things do come up. Prior to the event, we do expect you to let us know immediately, if you cannot fulfill your volunteer assignments, so we can find a replacement for you. There will also be a small time frame closer to the event date, where you will have a final chance to back out.

However, bailing out in the few days before the event or event dates is just not cool! It will be noted and chances of being selected as  a volunteer in the future will be affected. We do thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Prior to the event, the selected volunteer will review a brief overall orientation and overview with your specific chosen team. At the event, you will be managed by your team supervisor.
